Use of AI
Disclosure is required; authorship is not transferable to a tool.
The integration of artificial intelligence tools in manuscript preparation has gained prominence in academic publishing. These tools offer significant advantages; their use also raises important ethical considerations. This section outlines the ethical guidelines for using AI tools in preparing manuscripts submitted to Barw Medical Journal.
Transparency
Authors must clearly disclose the use of AI tools in the manuscript preparation process. The disclosure should specify the tools used and the extent of their contribution. For instance, if AI was used to generate portions of the text, this must be stated explicitly in the cover letter and in a section entitled “Use of AI” at the end of the manuscript, immediately before the references.
Responsibility
AI tools cannot be listed as authors. The authors remain fully responsible for the accuracy, integrity and originality of everything in the manuscript, including any content produced with the assistance of a tool.
Every research article published by the journal carries a “Use of AI” statement in its declarations, whether or not a tool was used.
