IntroductionCancer is a disease where transformed cells undergo uncontrolled division and survival. The incidence of cancer and hence its burden is on the rise. This study aims to evaluate the scientific studies published on cancer in the year 2023.
MethodsA cross-sectional study included the cancer papers that were published in the year 2023. After extracting the data from the Google Scholar engine, they were all gathered and recorded in a Microsoft Excel 2010 sheet. All of the data were rigorously evaluated, calculated, and then presented as frequencies and percentages.
ResultsA total of 181,189 studies published in 2023 on cancers and their different types were seen as eligible to be included in this study. Amongst them, studies on breast cancers with 31,000 studies were the most common whereas subglottic cancers with only 7 studies were the least common in that year.
ConclusionThe gap between the incidence rate of each type of cancer and the number of studies published on each type makes it harder to thoroughly grasp the nature of the disease to its utmost extent.

Introduction A benign tumor is a form of abnormal cell proliferation that remains confined to its site of origin, grows slowly, does not spread to distant body parts, nor does it invade the surrounding local structures. In this study, we aim to evaluate and list the scientific publications regarding benign tumors in…

IntroductionA benign tumor is a form of abnormal cell proliferation that remains confined to its site of origin, grows slowly, does not spread to distant body parts, nor does it invade the surrounding local structures. In this study, we aim to evaluate and list the scientific publications regarding benign tumors in the year 2022.
MethodsA cross-sectional study was conducted, including the published papers on benign tumors in the year 2022. The data were collected online from the Google Scholar search engine and recorded in Microsoft Excel 2010. The extracted data were calculated and thoroughly re-evaluated, then presented as frequencies and percentages.
ResultsA total of 17,007 medical studies were included in this report, with the brain having 3,450 (20.3%) studies, making it the organ with the most studies, whereas the hypopharyngeal portion of the throat had only one study and is, hence, the least studied one.
ConclusionThere is limited reporting and data available on benign tumors, and they are very scattered, leading to either a lack of or a misunderstanding of the burden they pose.

IntroductionCancer is the uncontrollable and abnormal division of cells in a specific part of the body, which can spread to adjacent areas. The number of scientific publications on cancer has increased significantly over the past few decades. The objective of the current study is to evaluate scientific publications on cancer in 2022.
MethodsA cross-sectional study was conducted on published papers on cancer in 2022. The data were collected online from the Google Scholar search engine and recorded in Microsoft Excel 2010. The extracted data were calculated and thoroughly re-evaluated, and they were presented as frequencies and percentages.
ResultsA total of 167,129 medical studies on cancer in various body organs were collected for the study, with 37,500 studies specifically focused on breast cancer. This represented the highest number of studies in 2022, while only 4 articles were specific to glottis cancer, marking the lowest number in that year.
ConclusionThe existence of a gap between the incidence rate of each cancer type and scientific literature may lead to a defect in our understanding of the nature of the diseases.
